Skylar Johnson

Skylar joined CivicWell as CivicSpark Regional Coordinator for the Central California region in 2021. She previously worked as Sustainability Specialist for UC Davis Student Housing and Dining Services where she managed the Sustainability Education and Outreach Program, annual large waste diversion programs, and supported the integration of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice into sustainability programs and policies across the University of California system.

Skylar has a long-standing history with the CivicSpark program. She previously served as a 2016-17 fellow at the Sacramento Air Quality Management District where she worked on implementing organics recycling programs across Sacramento County, supported a low-income weatherization program, and conducted research on Climate Action Plan policies. She also served for a year on the CivicSpark Alumni Board. She is particularly passionate about creating space for community connections, sustainable food systems, and waste reduction and diversion. Skylar holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the University of California, Davis. In her free time, she enjoys taking her dog to the beach, tending to her garden, and horseback riding.
