Fellow Bio:

Ciaran Gallagher graduated from Wellesley College in May 2017 with a B.A. in Environmental Chemistry. She is a native Southern Californian and is excited to explore a different part of her home state. At Wellesley College, Ciaran worked in a transdisciplinary and collaborative geochemical research lab that investigates how to mitigate lead contamination in an urban farming and harvesting context. The lab strongly considers the human health and environmental justice implications of their work. Her senior year, Ciaran also acted as lab manager, assisting in the creation of a collaborative and educational space for underclass women. Ciaran was a 2017 Fellow of the Albright Institute for Global Affairs, completing an internship with Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon as a public policy intern in the Earth Ministry department. In the summer of 2016 Ciaran was a NOAA Hollings Scholar and conducted research on organic pollutant contamination in Puget Sound, WA. Ciaran aspires to shape urban environmental policies because she believes that comprehensive policy is needed to address environmental issues. She is eager to immerse herself in the workings of local government during the CivicSpark Fellowship.
