Miranda Denerson

Region: Los Angeles

Project(s): Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles Email: mdenerson@caclimateactioncorps.org Fellow Bio:

Miranda grew up in Los Angeles County and received her BS in Psychology from the University of La Verne. She began her professional career working in special education and has recently co-founded a small organization in her community to advocate for the redistribution of funds toward community programs that educate, care for, and assist more residents. Through this experience, she has found a love for community-based work and local policy. Though she has always been passionate about environmentalism and has done her part in lessening her environmental footprint, Miranda has continued to educate herself on the consequences of the climate crisis and has become increasingly passionate about the intersections of environmentalism and race. She hopes to use her experience at Watts Rising to learn about the implementation of climate policy and how it can benefit communities that are disproportionately affected by the consequences of climate change. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, taking pictures of sunsets, laying around with her dogs, and doing her best to keep her plants alive.
