Sophie Chertok is a passionate and driven individual who has recently graduated from the University of California Santa Cruz, with degrees in Environmental Studies and Legal Studies. She is from Norcal, loves to cook and garden, and plays the jazz flute. Her dream career aspiration is to be a Climate Action Manager, and was inspired by the climate action work that the City of Santa Cruz has done. Her past work experiences have been with a non-profit analyzing nuclear energy policy and practices, a municipal water department, multiple grassroots advocacy campaigns, and on her college campus. She is excited to work with GVCC, volunteers, and learn stakeholder engagement processes!
