Katie Webster joined the Local Government Commission (LGC) in 2019 as a Project Coordinator with the CivicSpark™ Operations Team. CivicSpark™ is a Governor’s Initiative AmeriCorps program, which provides capacity-building support for local governments throughout California to address climate change.
Prior to joining LGC, Katie was an Outreach Coordinator at GRID Alternatives, a nonprofit solar installer. At GRID, Katie helped bring affordable rooftop solar to disadvantaged communities in the northern San Joaquin Valley. Katie launched her career in environmental stewardship by serving as a CivicSpark™ fellow in San Luis Obispo County during the 2015-16 service year. Katie earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Biology from Auburn University in Alabama and relocated to California to serve as a CivicSpark™ fellow.
In her free time, Katie enjoys roller skating, doing stand up comedy and tending to her collection of house plants.
