Ken Herron

Staff Bio

herronKen has over 35 years of professional experience in the direction of government and non-profit organizations, economic development consulting and marketing management in the private sector and instructing management and public relations at the university level. Herron holds degrees in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations/Advertising from California State University at Fullerton and in Public Administration from California State University at San Bernardino.

Since 2015 Ken has been part of the CivicSpark team starting as one of the original Regional Coordinators and now serves as CivicSpark Training Consultant. He spent his career in southern California, working with communities, including the cities of Covina and Fontana in Parks and Recreation, Community Services, and Economic Development. Before retiring in 2008, he had the opportunity to become Fontana’s first Community Services Director and create an inaugural department by once again establishing new services and reorganizing existing programs. In 1990, Herron was recruited to become the Executive Director of the national Life Savers Foundation, who had revolutionized the recruitment of non-related bone marrow donors. After retirement, Herron occasionally performed as an economic development consultant for both cities and private developers mostly with the firm Urban Ideas of Long Beach, California.
